Welcome to the 1860 Society

The United States has a deeply rooted history in private clubs and city institutions that served as social and political meeting places for the members.  Built by some of the most prestigious builders of the 19th and 20th century, these buildings have strategic city locations and traditions. This site will focus on the history of these clubs.
